Nishiki Road Bike Serial Number
A place for pictures, articles, and discussion of bikes and parts pre 1986. Shimano introduced Shimano Index System (SIS) in 1986. While it was not the first indexing system, Shimano refined it to a simple, reliable, and easy to use system that sent them down the path of the modern shifting we use today. So basically, most of the bikes and parts postings here should be pre-index.
RULES FOR POSTING Please try to make posts about bikes and parts from the pre index era (pre 1986). Just like most bike forums, if you can only take one picture of your bike, TAKE A PICTURE OF THE DRIVE SIDE! It's hard to tell the nature/quality of the bike without seeing the majority of the components.
If you need help trying to ID a bike/frame, please take pictures of: The whole bike, head badge, decals, lugs/welds, serial number, components/parts, and anything else of note on the bike. Pictures should not be taken with a potato, i.e. Good res, close up, not blurry, good lighting. Important links • • (May he rest in peace. Recently bought this Nishiki Landau.
Nishiki Road Bike Serial Number Lookup
I don't know much about the bike or road bikes in general, i ride bmx mostly. When I bought it, I met with the guy outside and it was raining so I didn't stay and really ask anything about it. I bought it for $300 Canadian which seems a bit much looking back but it's basically in perfect condition. Absolutely no scratches or anything at all. I changed the pedals to some bmx flats since that's what I'm comfortable with. Wondering if anyone is able to give me some info on it, would like to know what year it's from roughly at least.
This site is not a commercial project. Magix video deluxe 2007 plus german dvd setup.
The serial number is C232336. All it says on the bike is 'MIYaTA' (on the down tube) and Sports Model (on the seat tube), there are also two stickers with red, silver, blue and green stripes (kind of like a rainbow) on the down/seat tubes. I haven't seen anything looking through the online catalogs that looks quite like it. Serial Numbers. Serial Numbers for Nishiki bikes were decoded by Tom Marshall, Canadian engineer, racer and runner, using. Kawamura manufactured frames (1972–1987): These frames used a serial number XYZZZZZ format where: X is the market (C = Canada (pre-1985) K = USA (pre 1985) W = USA (1985–1987)). This is kind of random, but I was looking on Ebay and saw some old Nishiki road bikes for sale and I have seen quite a few people riding old Nishikis around here (Washington D.C. I have an old Nishiki mountain bike and I LOVE it. This is a very nice Vintage Nishiki Prestige, serial number WE 01345, WE means it was made in 1985 for the US market. These were very nice Japanese touring bikes and very light.
I am in Ireland and have a Nishiki Landau from 1979, bought 20 years ago from a Canadian colleague (they were never sold over here). Lovely bike, mostly original still, still ride it as my commuter and TBH its a more comfortable ride than my carbon bike. Paint job on mine is a bit different to yours though, & no chomed forks. To find out the age you need to find the serial number on the frame, I think mine was on the bottom bracket or the lower part of the downtube, and decode it as shown here. Happy riding, my old battered Landau is off the L'Eroica in Gaiole, Italy this October.
Nishiki Bike Models
Sorry I realize this is a month old but that's a great bike and, assuming those are bmx pedals that the seller had on there, I actually looked at this exact bike and passed as I thought it was just a bit too large. I've been really kicking myself for not taking it ever since. I won't duplicate what others have said before but I think $300 is absolutely a fair price for the bike as I've looked at a ton of kijiji/craigslist bikes in the GTA. Nishiki definitely has fans out there. Some limited info here (keep in mind it's from ten years ago given the price paid): Enjoy the bike! Sorry again for posting late.
